Hello fountain pen friends!
In 2022 when it was announced that Sheaffer Pen Company would be under new leadership and ownership, having been purchased by William Penn, the distinguished Retailer of top-of-the-line writing instruments, I was very happy to learn of this news—the iconic Sheaffer name and products were now in good hands.
Nikhil Ranjan, founder and managing director of William Penn, had established himself as a person at the forefront of excellence in the world of fountain pens. Mutual friends informed me of Nikhil’s stellar reputation. He understands what we want and immediately began focusing on quality and innovation while maintaining Sheaffer traditions–it is a brand with a famous history, which began 112 years ago by Walter Sheaffer.
Members, do you own a new Sheaffer? I had purchased a few Sheaffer fountain pens which were produced since the 2022 company transition, and because they perform so well, in fact exceeding my expectations, I decided that my next fountain pen order would be the recently-launched Legacy.
The Legacy was originally released 30 years ago and it called to mind Sheaffer’s Vintage PFM model which was introduced in 1959. The latest Legacy fountain pen’s design and function explain its global allure. The exclusive, classic, Sheaffer inlaid medium nib delivers a writing experience with remarkable glide. When I write, there is an effortless feeling as the pen moves across paper.
The detailed thought and planning by the new Sheaffer Team results in this desirable smoothness which comes from superb craftsmanship and a factory-pre-tested, well-polished, and tuned nib. The feeder’s steady ink flow contributes to the outcome–a delightful handwriting event! By the way, the consistent reliability and top-performing Sheaffer inlaid nib was not only a key feature/benefit of the PFM, and later Legacy, but also the nib/feed for other Sheaffer models, such as Imperial, Dolphin, Targa, and Intrigue. Indeed that inlaid nib assembly has been trusted by fountain pen buyers for 66 years.
In my humble opinion—all aspects of the Legacy are precise. It is comfortable to hold and write with the Legacy. I find it is well-balanced, whether the cap is posted or unposted. The fountain pen has a popular, black-lacquered body and cap with durable, protective chrome trims and clip. I like the cap’s snap-on closure with its satisfying click sound. The convenient filling system offers two methods–bottle-filling or cartridge.
The Legacy is provided in a premium presentation box with a Sheaffer converter, Sheaffer ink cartridges, a genuine leather pouch, a polishing cloth, and warranty info., all included. Additionally, the Legacy is available in both ball pen and rollerball modes.
Nikhil Ranjan and the Sheaffer organization have built upon a successful foundation that creates an emotional connection with fountain pen devotees, world-wide. This has been accomplished through affordable, significant-value pens which are flawlessly produced, along with creative product development, and, exceptional customer experience. I have been an enthusiastic admirer of Sheaffer ever since 1988 which is when I began using and collecting these treasures. My ardent zeal for them has expanded–practical tools which bring joyous fun! And this new Sheaffer Legacy has become my first-choice daily writer. Product inquiries can be directed to your Sheaffer Dealer/Retailer. Members, continue enjoying your fountain pens!
